Online booking analytics

5 min read Updated October 14, 2026 Altegio Support

What is it and why is it needed?

Analytics from the Altegio online booking form can be sent to an analytics service in the company’s account. Analytics services help you track the number of website/service visitors, segment them by many different criteria, and monitor user actions. Online booking widgets are closely integrated with various analytics services, which allows you to get in-depth customer analytics.

You can set up this process in Online Booking > Online booking links, in the Analytics in the online booking form section, by entering the unique identifier of the service.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Register an account in one of the listed analytics services:
    Facebook Pixel (Facebook retargeting pixel)
    Google Analytics
  1. Create a pixel or a property/resource (depending on the service). Go to Administration mode, Online Booking > Online booking links.
  2. Select the required online booking form and click its name or the Configure button.
  1. Scroll to the Analytics block and set up the integration with analytics services.

Integration setup

Setting up integration with Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel
Add the unique identifier of the analytics service (or several services) and click Save. You can find the list of events the widget will send in the article Description of analytics events.

Extra counters for a specific booking link

You can give out several links to the same online booking form — for example, one for an ad campaign and one for a partner — and count the visits and bookings from each link in its own Google Analytics property or Meta (Facebook) Pixel. To do this, add a parameter to the end of the online booking link:

ParameterWhat it addsExample
add_gaOne more Google Analytics ID (Google tag): starts with G-, GT-, AW-, DC- or UA-https://n123456.alteg.io/?add_ga=G-ABC123XYZ
add_fbOne more Meta (Facebook) Pixel ID: digits onlyhttps://n123456.alteg.io/?add_fb=123456789012345

Both parameters can be used together: ?add_ga=G-ABC123XYZ&add_fb=123456789012345. If the link already contains a question mark, add the parameter with & instead of ?.

How it works:

  • The counter from the link is added to the counters from the form settings. The form’s own counters keep working and receive the same events.
  • The widget sends every event from the list of analytics events to all counters at once.
  • One extra counter of each type per link. If a parameter is repeated, only the first value is used; several IDs separated by commas are not supported.
  • If the ID in the link is the same as the ID in the form settings, the counter is connected once.
  • An ID in the wrong format is ignored, and the form’s counters keep working. Google IDs are written in capital letters: G-ABC123, not g-abc123.
  • For visitors from the EU, the cookie consent settings apply to the extra Google Analytics counter in the same way as to the form’s counter. The extra Meta Pixel is connected for them only if the visitor has already agreed to advertising cookies.
  • A Google Tag Manager container cannot be added through a link — only in the form settings. See Setting the integration with Google Tag Manager.

Important: the owner of the counter in the link sees the visits and the booking statistics of everyone who opens this link. If advanced matching is turned on in that counter’s settings (for example, automatic advanced matching in Meta Pixel), the counter owner can also receive the encrypted name, phone number and email that clients enter in the booking form. Anyone can add such a parameter to a link to your form, so give out links with extra counters only to partners and contractors you trust.

Creating a goal in Google Analytics

More details about setting up integration with Google Analytics are available in the article.

Adding a goal is optional: Google Analytics can track events even without goals. But you can create goals if needed.

  1. Go to Google Analytics in the required account > Property and app > View.
  2. Go to Admin, and in the View column select Goals.
  3. Click + GOAL.
  4. At the Goal setup step, choose Custom and click Next. At the Goal description step, enter the Name and select the Type — Event, then click Next.
  5. At the Goal details step, set Action as the event identifier (you need an identifier in Latin characters, for example: booked).
  6. Click Save.
