Below: the numbers with sources, and the maths on specifics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In brief<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>How much a hairdresser earns in 2026: a median of 6,430 z\u0142 gross, higher than word of mouth suggests:<\/strong> a beautician 6,040 z\u0142, a nail stylist 5,280 z\u0142, and job ads for hairdressers and barbers meet at 7,000 z\u0142. A salary is counted from utilisation, not from wishful thinking<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much hairdressers, barbers, beauticians and nail stylists earn: the 2026 numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short answer to how much a hairdresser and the rest of the industry earn, before the detail: the medians of beauty professions in Poland sit between 5,300 and 7,000 z\u0142 gross, that is roughly 10 to 34% above the statutory minimum. The National Salary Survey is filled in by employees themselves, and the samples in beauty professions are small: 79 hairdressers, 64 beauticians and only 12 nail stylists. The job-ads data are employer declarations: what the recruitment market promises, not what lands in accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second, gross is not take-home. Contributions and tax come off the table&#8217;s figures, while real money in this industry also includes tips and commission on retail sales, which no statistic captures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Third, part of the industry settles outside employment contracts: own business, chair rental, mixed arrangements. Employment statistics therefore show only a slice of the market, and rather the more cautious one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the pay depends on: city, tenure, client base and the booking system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four factors make a bigger difference than the choice of profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The city.<\/strong> In job ads for hairdressers and barbers the median grows from 6,500 z\u0142 in small towns to 7,500 z\u0142 in cities above 250 thousand residents (pracuj.pl, as of August 2026). Warsaw and the Tricity play in the upper range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tenure and specialisation.<\/strong> Colouring, brow styling, hair extensions: the narrower the specialisation and the longer the list of results, the closer to the top percentile. That surprises nobody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Your own client base.<\/strong> Clients follow hands, not signboards. A specialist with a full diary negotiates the rate or leaves to work for themselves, which is why for the owner keeping the base is not a soft topic but a concrete <a href=\"https:\/\/alteg.io\/en\/blog\/salon-loyalty-program-7-models\/\">loyalty programme<\/a> and watching the returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The booking system.<\/strong> The least counted component. If bookings come through a marketplace, the platform takes a commission on them: in this category of services up to 40% of the visit&#8217;s value. At a 90 z\u0142 visit that is up to 36 z\u0142 leaving the takings before you count materials. Two people with identical prices and identical hands can end the month with different amounts because of it: the difference sits not in skill but in the channel the clients come through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your own booking system, such as Altegio, works on the opposite model: a flat subscription instead of a percentage of every visit, online booking with no commission, and the client base with its visit history stays with you, not on a platform next to your competitors&#8217; profiles. On top come the tools that work for returns: reminders cut missed visits, and a loyalty programme shortens the gap between appointments. The fuller the diary, the smaller the subscription&#8217;s share of revenue, so the difference in end-of-month money grows over time rather than shrinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employed chair or your own: run the numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question &#8220;how much does a hairdresser with their own salon earn&#8221; has no single answer, but it has one honest calculation. Substitute your own numbers, ours are a model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your own chair, 150 visits a month at 90 z\u0142: 13,500 z\u0142 of revenue. Materials at 15 z\u0142 per visit take 2,250 z\u0142, leaving 11,250 z\u0142. From that you still pay the chair rent, the business owner&#8217;s contributions, and the cost of the system you work in. And it is this last item that diverges the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If half the bookings come through a marketplace with a 20% commission, you hand over 75 visits times 18 z\u0142, that is 1,350 z\u0142 a month, and at a 40% commission that line grows to 2,700 z\u0142. That is the equivalent of one fifth to more than two fifths of the employed hairdresser&#8217;s median, given away every month for the booking channel alone. Your own system costs a flat subscription independent of the number of visits, so in this calculation it is a fixed cost, not a percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Employment, in turn, gives stability and zero risk of an empty diary, but with the ceiling from the table above. The difference between &#8220;how much a hairdresser earns&#8221; and &#8220;how much a hairdresser keeps&#8221; is largely utilisation and the cost of the channel the clients come through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the rates mean for the salon owner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the owner, the medians table is not trivia but the labour market&#8217;s price list. Three conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hairdresser median, 6,430 z\u0142 gross, is in the model calculation about 86 visits of margin a month: 6,430 divided by 75 z\u0142 of margin on a 90 z\u0142 visit. The full cost of employment is higher than gross, because employer contributions come on top, so the salary really adds up only at stable utilisation. Before you promise a rate from the upper range, count it in visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Job ads are already bidding 7,000 z\u0142 and up, so keeping a proven specialist is cheaper than finding a new one. In job ads the hairdresser\/barber category has a median of 7,000 z\u0142 gross with a 4,700\u20139,500 z\u0142 range (pracuj.pl, as of August 2026). In big cities and with an own client base, real rates play in the upper half of that range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How much does a beautician earn?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The median is 6,040 z\u0142 gross, and half of beauticians earn between 5,340 and 8,820 z\u0142 (National Salary Survey, January 2026, 64 responses). On top come tips and commission on product sales, which the statistics do not capture, so real amounts are often higher than the tabular ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How much does a nail stylist earn?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the National Salary Survey the median is 5,280 z\u0142 gross with a 3,880\u20136,150 z\u0142 range, but the sample is only 12 responses, so treat these figures as indicative. In practice the rate depends mainly on the city, the pace of work, and whether clients come back every three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How much does a hairdresser with their own salon earn?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no statistic, there is a calculation: revenue minus materials, rent, contributions and the cost of the booking channel. At 150 visits at 90 z\u0142, 11,250 z\u0142 remains before fixed costs, so with a full diary more than on an employment contract.
