A category<\/strong> is a group of products that share common attributes. For example, the \u201cESTEL\u201d<\/strong> category includes all ESTEL brand products; the \u201cShampoos\u201d<\/strong> category includes shampoos from different manufacturers, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By default, Altegio has a category called Main products<\/strong>. After you create your own category, you will be able to delete it. Categories can be added, configured, and deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New category<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to Products<\/strong> > All products.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click Add category<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. In the window that opens, enter the Name<\/strong>, select the Parent category<\/strong> (the folder where this category will be placed), SKU<\/strong>, and Comment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Editing and archiving<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    You can edit information for any product category. Select the category, click the pencil<\/strong> icon next to its name, then in the window that opens edit the name, parent category, SKU, and comment, and click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can also delete or archive a product category here. Archiving lets you store unused items instead of deleting them permanently, and later choose whether to delete them permanently or restore them if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Important<\/strong>

    You can archive only products created in the location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can\u2019t archive the only category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can\u2019t archive a category if it contains a product or another category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can\u2019t archive products linked to bills of materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If a product is linked to payroll, it will disappear from payroll calculations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Deleted archived categories and products can be restored back to the archive (contact Altegio Support).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can\u2019t delete a category that contains products. Before deleting a category, remove all products from it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
